About Me
My name is Amber Hemmings and I am the owner and sole counsellor of Empowered Endometriosis Counselling.
I first noticed symptoms of Endometriosis when I was twelve years old in 2010, and was diagnosed when I was twenty years old, through surgery. My journey from my first period to now was a journey very similar to other women out there and it was not an easy one. When I discovered Endometriosis no one I spoke to knew what it was and no one knew how to help me. I started seeing doctors when I was old enough to go by myself and found nothing but dead ends, unhelpful ideas and even from one doctor, verbal abuse.

The reason I decided to become a counsellor and open a clinic for sufferers of Endo, was because of the issues I had with doctors, employers and partners. Doctors either had very little information and ideas to help me and some even told me my symptoms were not real. Employers didn’t understand why I was in so much pain all the time and I was even fired from a job after going home early because I knew I was going to lose mobility of my legs very soon, as that was a symptom I suffered from. Some past partners didn't care about what I would go through almost everyday and told me to get over it because it’s not that bad.

My goal is to assist and inspire other women to become advocates for themselves on their endometriosis journey.
